Iván M. Morales
Iván Morales, iCorp’s Executive Director, is a lawyer by training, having graduated from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law with a Juris Doctor (1996) and LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice (1997) in a collaborative program with the Law Juridicum of Salzburg University. Iván started his career with Gomez, Acebo & Pombo in Madrid, Spain before joining Shearman & Sterling in New York where he acquired experience in bank finance, corporate finance, M&A, bankruptcy and litigation. In 2003 he joined Linklaters expanding practice in New York as a Senior Litigation and Restructuring Associate until he joined Visa International in 2008 as its Head of Legal Services and Government Relations for Latin America.
Thereafter, Iván became the General Counsel of the Somos Group, a Latin American Entertainment Group based in Miami, Florida. In order to expand his horizons, he established iCorp in 2013 in order to help clients become more attractive for US transactions.
Maria Luisa Contreras
Maria Luisa Contreras, a Senior Advisor with iCorp, is an expert with over 30 years’ experience as a restructuring lawyer, operating trustee and financial advisor. Maria has operated steel-mills, hotels, retail establishments and many other business organizations in need of restructuring expertise.
Maria graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Law School, Magna Cum Laude and worked as a law clerk for the Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico before opening one of Puerto Rico’s most successful restructuring practices. Maria was also admitted to both the District of Columbia Bar and the New York State Bar.
Maria is passionate about helping companies organize their businesses in such a fashion as to become successful operating corporate entities for the benefit of shareholders, members and other stake holders.
WALID FADDOUL
Dr. Walid Faddoul is a Director at iCorp, where he is the co-head of the firm’s strategic initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa (“MENA”). Walid leads efforts to assist US and MENA clients in structuring and executing cross-border transactions between these two dynamic economic zones. Based between the firm’s US office and the MENA region, he works to advise and connect MENA and US financial institutions, corporations, and investors with regional counterparts that can help exploit market opportunities and products.
Walid has mastery of international corporate and banking law, focusing on advising MENA corporate clients as they navigate US and international business relationships. Before moving to the US, Walid served as in-house Senior Legal Counsel at a leading financial institution in Lebanon and the MENA region. He represented and negotiated bank-related financing agreements, securities agreements, mergers and acquisitions and various types of financing transactions, domestically and with global institutions.
Walid’s education includes: J.S.D. in International Legal Studies, University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, CA, USA; LLM in American and Transnational Law, University of Dayton School of Law, Dayton, OH, USA; LLM in Business Law, Lebanese American University, Beirut, Lebanon; Master’s in Private Law, Lebanese University; LLB in Law, Lebanese University.
